Selected as candidate for Holborn & St Pancras
I have been chosen by Camden Green Party as our candidate to fight the 2017 General Election.
I was selected at a meeting of the local party on Saturday 29th April, where I answered some excellent questions on national issues, policing and youth services and how we challenge the Government over Brexit as well as Labour’s current MP for our area, Keir Starmer, who is their Brexit spokesperson and has led their weak and indecisive approach.
I’ve a lot of experience of fighting elections for the Greens. I finished third in last year’s election for London Mayor and won my deposit back against Glenda Jackson in the 2005 General Election in the old Hampstead and Highgate constituency.

In a statement I said:
“Holborn & St Pancras didn’t vote for Brexit, and I will fight Brexit plans that would hurt jobs and public services and insist on giving people a final say on any deal. Unlike Keir Starmer, who voted to trigger Article 50 and has done little to oppose Theresa May’s plans for an extreme Brexit, I will not give up on the rights of our EU citizens or free movement for students and workers.”

Sian Berry joined the Green Party in 2001, the same year she moved to Holborn & St Pancras, where she has lived ever since. Since 2014, she has been the Green Party councillor for Highgate, and since 2016 a London Assembly Member. She has twice been the Green Party candidate for Mayor of London, finishing third in 2016 when she secured the Greens highest ever London Mayoral vote.
In three years on Camden Council, Sian has a strong record of challenging Labour, getting them to do more on issues such as funding for community centres and libraries, concessions for the poorest people on council tax, and holding them to account over housing As a local campaigner in Highgate she was the first in Camden to co-ordinate local air pollution monitoring through citizen science and has helped to inspire similar projects across the area.
